8-Bit Pickers: A Nintendo World Championships Gold Rush
After a rare 1990 Nintendo World Championships cart in a condition that can best be described as decrepit sold for nearly $100,000 last week, two more collectors have come out of the wood work to claim their share of the land rush to rare 8-bit memorabilia.
The more interesting of the two recent eBay listings is a gold version of the Nintendo World Championships cart, one of only 26 produced as part of a Nintendo Power contest conducted in conjunction with the real World Championships tournament competition that produced grey versions of the cart (such as the one sold a week ago).
The less interesting listing, really only because it is outshone by the literally more shiny listing above, features a grey Nintendo World Championships cart, one of a relatively plentiful 90 ever created.
I’ll leave the new house vs. vintage Nintendo memorabilia decision up to you. Choose wisely.
